Local Market: Huércal-Overa

Huércal-Overa’s weekly market takes place every Monday morning and is one of the biggest and busiest markets in the Almanzora area.

From around 9am, the streets around Avenida Guillermo Reyna fill with stalls selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to clothes, shoes, plants, household goods and local produce. It’s a popular market with both local residents and visitors from across the region looking for a proper traditional Spanish market atmosphere.

Market day brings a real buzz to the town, with cafés and bakeries packed from early morning as people stop for coffee, breakfast or tapas while enjoying a wander around the stalls.

Huércal-Overa itself is a lively inland town with plenty of shops, history and character, including the striking Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción overlooking the town centre.
