Born in Coventry, Steve spent most of his career in electronics before moving into engineering training management. In his early twenties he served with the Coldstream Guards, completing tours in Germany and Northern Ireland, as well as public duties in London. A former private pilot, he once flew passengers on sightseeing trips in a Piper P28.

Creative at heart, Steve was heavily involved in amateur dramatics in the UK—directing, producing and appearing in numerous productions. Well travelled and endlessly curious, he loves immersing himself in different cultures. Music has always been central to his life, with tastes that span from classical to pop.

In 2020, Steve and his wife Berni retired to Spain, where they now enjoy life in the hills with their four rescue dogs.
